ERT Systems Presents at the Michigan Professional
Fire Fighters Union Annual Health & Safety Conference
Ann Arbor, MI – (October 14, 2009) – ERT Systems, LLC,
a leading provider of automated tracking systems for first responders,
gave a presentation on personnel accountability at the 2009 Michigan
Professional Fire Fighters Union’s annual Health and Safety
Conference.
ERT’s vice president and retired incident commander John
Ellis gave a one-hour presentation on accountability and resource
tracking, and how it directly affects the safety of fire fighters
while deployed on scene. Following the presentation, John moderated
a discussion on common personnel accountability systems. The conversation
focused primarily on the frustration many fire departments experience
trying to use the most popular tag systems.
At the end of the discussion, John hosted a live demonstration
of OnSite ERTTM, which provides automatic, real-time accountability
and continuous tracking via radio tags carried by each firefighter.
Portable readers were placed at various locations inside the hotel,
and a few attendees participated in the demonstration by walking
around with the tags as OnSite ERT tracked their movement from
zone to zone.
John also introduced the latest new service, ERT Central, which
allows OnSite ERT users to automatically recognize emergency responders
and resources from other agencies. John explained “ERT Central
keeps up-to-date records of every responder registered in the
OnSite ERT network: locally, nationally, and even internationally.
This gives the on-scene commander full and immediate access to
the vital detail they need, especially at larger, more difficult
events.”
The goal of the Annual Health & Safety Conference is to inform
MPFFU members about current fire department health and safety
issues. The annual event occurred on October 5th & 6th this
year, and was held at the Marriott Auburn Hills Pontiac at Centerpoint.
